When working with young children your words really matter.

When working with young children your words really matter. As a parent and a teacher you MUST choose them carefully.

Here are some alternatives.

Be quiet = Can you use a softer voice?

What a mess!! = someone has been having fun, how can we clean it up?

Do you need Help? = I’m here to help if you need me.

I explained how to do this yesterday = Maybe I can show you another way?

Do I need to seperate you two? = maybe you need a break?

Stop crying = it’s ok to cry, do you want to tell me what’s up?

Do you have a question? = What question do you have?

You’re ok = How are you feeling?

It’s not that hard = you can do hard things.

We don’t talk like that = please use nice words.
