What is the most important aspect of any lesson?

Children need to be able to use the skills they have developed during your wonderfully inspirational lesson, and there’s no better way than allowing them to teach somebody else.

Research shows;

We learn 10% of what we read

20% of what we hear

30% of what we see

50% of what we see and hear

70% of what we discuss and debate

80% of what we experience (emotional)

And 95% of what we teach to others.

Allow time in your curriculum for children to use the skills, work of projects they have created, to educate those around them.

Whilst they are teaching others, they will use their ‘soft skills’ such as confidence, time management, intonation, empathy.

You can sit back, observe and use this valuable time to assess the children on these very important, but ungradable skills.

Skills that the 21st century needs so desperately.

Move to a competency based curriculum and see the children shine from the very start!
