So here’s a new initiative I will be putting in place and I’d like other schools to try this and let me know how it goes.
• The first step is to install a notice board in your classroom or hone with changeable letters.
• A box of quotes laminated can be placed next to the box. Such as “A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down.”
• Each week a different child chooses a quote and places it on the classroom notice board and as a class you discuss it’s meaning and how it may manifest itself.
• Provide each child with a small notebook and a pencil. Whenever they see this quote being acted out in real life they will make a note of it. But not being done by themselves.
• At the end of each day the class comes together as a group to discuss the day and read out some of the occasions they saw the quote being portrayed in real life.
“Did anyone witness our quote in action today?” Said Mr Johnson.
“Yes, Tommy was finding it really hard to complete his work on division, he was about to give up but I saw Stephanie go over and help him.” Said Steve.
• The teacher then unpacks these scenarios and the children go home to discuss more with their parents.
