I always tell my students that there’s 6 senses. I knows it’s wrong scientifically, but there have been so many times when my stomach has told me one thing, I’ve ignored it and regretted it later.
Or I’ve looked into the eyes of a person, or the smile just wasn’t real and ignored it only to be Betrayed.
As I clasped his hand, and saw the breadth of his smile, my stomach told me that this guy was for real.
He’d asked for us to build him a library hog up in the mountains of the Himalayas and when we visited I could see he was genuine. He truly wanted no material gain from this, no prestige or selfishness.
His role as school principal was to help the children prosper, to be the bridge between them and the future they were yet to realise existed.
He showed me the place where the library will sit, I looked in his eyes, felt the warmth of his embrace and said “OK”
I truly love moments like this, the world is filed with bad news, stories of hate and violence, but there are people out there who are doing their best, day in, day out for the greater good of mankind.
And he is surely one of them.
Have a wonderful day ❤️
