The Importance of School Holidays!

As teachers, we have the privilege and responsibility of shaping young minds. But in order to truly inspire our students, we must first find inspiration within ourselves. One of the most powerful ways to do this is by exploring the natural world.

Ten ways that school holidays assist teacher wellbeing are:

  1. Improved mental and physical health
  2. Reduced stress and burnout
  3. Increased energy and motivation
  4. Better work-life balance
  5. Greater job satisfaction
  6. Improved relationships with family and friends
  7. Increased ability to manage stress and emotions
  8. Greater ability to cope with the demands of the job
  9. Enhanced personal and professional development
  10. Improved overall sense of well-being and happiness.

During our school holidays, instead of heading into school to laminate or writing long overly beurocratic curriculum documents, let us venture out into the wilderness. Let us hike through the mountains, swim in the ocean, and marvel at the stars. Let us reconnect with the beauty and wonder of our planet.

As we immerse ourselves in the majesty of nature, we will discover a renewed sense of wonder and curiosity. We will find ourselves more in tune with the rhythms of the earth, and more attuned to the needs of our students. We will be more motivated and inspired to teach them about the natural world, and to instill in them a love and respect for the planet that sustains us all.

So let us take advantage of our school holidays to explore the natural world. Let us be the role models for our students and show them the importance of connecting with nature. Let us be the inspiration for the next generation of environmental stewards. In this way, we will not only be doing ourselves a great service, but also the future of our planet.
