Communicating with children is an art form. It takes skill, patience and some serious choice of words.
The wrong choice of phrase and you’ll have 1000 “why’s?” The empty threat and they’ll eat you alive, one too many promises that never blossom into reality and you’ve got a lack of belief.
It’s not easy but if there’s one piece of proven advice that I can offer all parents and teachers out there about how to engage in conversation with children it’s this;
“Don't just talk to your child; talk with your child. The interaction, more than the number of words a child hears, creates measurable changes in the brain and sets the stage for strong literacy skills in school.”
