“Make sure that going to bed and getting up are a nice, calming process.”
If you’re looking for ways to ensure that children are receiving adequate sleep, there’s no surer way to this than creating a calming process around going to bed and getting up in the morning.
Children find it easier to fall asleep when there is a calm routine to prepare them for bed; having a bath, brushing their teeth, reading a story, and getting to bed at the same time each night.
With these routines in place, children are more likely able to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up refreshed. As we know, getting adequate sleep is vital to ensure children are refreshed and prepared for the day ahead, and with proper sleep routines in place you can ensure your child is sufficiently energised and ready to take on each day.
Children spend an average of 140 hours a month at school and 540 at home. Most of that time at home is whist the child is sleeping, which is crucial part of brain development and emotional regulation.
