As the sun set at school, the parents gathered for our annual music and poetry night. I stood in front of over a hundred parents and told them:
“Welcome parents. I feel honoured to be standing here before you. But tonight is not about me, it’s not about you and it’s not about our school. It’s about the children who suggested this night.
They are the future, they organised the poetry, they will sing the songs and not an adult will be I sight. As six year olds, seven years old stood before the crowd and sang, talked, danced and joked.
A real sense of pride washes over me. We have empowered these children to be confident. Confident in what they believe. And with this confidence they will go forward, stand tall and strong and speak their minds. For Especially those in need.
Confidence within yourself is the greatest piece of equipment one can have in their pencil care.
The children sang, the parents clapped and we all realised what amazing youngsters we were dealing with.
Truly blessed.
